DIETER EHRLICH

DIETER EHRLICH was a young Swiss greaser who kept a scrapbook of his teen gang doings in the early 1960s. He was an early gang boy whose collection of scrapbooks held a history of the street packs for decades before he discovered it with his belongings. With historian/ journalist Lukas Mueller, Dieter, known as “Igel” in the gangs, has now revealed the backstory to the admired photography of Karlheinz Weinberger, who set his lens on the leather and chains of Switzerland hoods after being introduced to their inner workings by young Igel Ehrlich. Halbstark, “half-strong” in German, was a pointed reference to the juvenile delinquents of the day, and Kicks Books together with Bad Seed magazine, is honored to bring this adolescent subculture to life in HALBSTARK BABY-BABY HALBSTARK!
