LUKAS MUELLER

LUKAS MUELLER began his career as a journalist in 1982 at the largest newspaper in Basel, Switzerland, the Basler Zeitung. Between 1984 and 2005, he conducted over 2,000 interviews, including those with Claude Nobs of the Montreux Jazz Festival, singer Marc Storace from Krokus, Argentinian soccer hero Matias Emilio Delgado, Lee Brilleaux and Wilko Johnson from Dr Feelgood , Ian Gillan from Deep Purple, The Golden Gate Quartet, Magic Slim, Luther Allison, and well, a couple thousand other very interesting people. Between 1986 and 1992 he also worked for the monthly paper Music Scene Switzerland, heading the Basel bureau for rock and blues music. In 2002, his book about Halbstarke and Beat Bands sold out quickly. “The theme of Halbstark is my main thing,” says Lukas. “Together with my mate Igel I published a booklet about Halbstarke which is also now sold out. I had the opportunity to write the text for the Halbstark Baby-Baby Halbstark book for Miriam Linna at Kicks Books. This was an amazing experience for me and I’m looking forward for the reactions of the readers in the USA. I have also published two books about Swiss institutions, and six years ago, with two friends I founded a free local newspaper called Kleinbasler Zeitung which distributes 46,000 copies each month. This newspaper is my baby, my creation, it and I’m very proud of it. I have an average of about eight to ten interviews each month. I also host a podcast featuring sports heroes who were active in the 1930s-1970’s. I also worked for the local TV station Telebasel and had my own show about local politics, culture and sports. I also was chief of the television archive. During this time I always continued to study the life of Halbstark people.”
